possession Like any other addiction, I miss roleplaying. Nostalgia got to me and I returned to haunt the forsaken 'Lands of Tempest.' I've been in several unfinished games--well, actually, all of the games I've been in were unfinished... something to do with commitment issues, I guess. But anyway, Lands of Tempest ran for nearly a year. You have to understand the magnitude of this: one year is a record for me. When I'm asked what roleplaying games I've been in, the game that first comes to mind is LoT--not Vaxia, not Tazlure, although in both of these games I had been staff (intially). More than anything, it was because of the character I played. If ever I had an alter-ego, it was this one. This also was the game where I inadvertently asked if anyone wanted "strumpets" with their tea, much to mortification after edification from my friends on what a strumpet is. The game certainly had all the cliches of high fantasy and because of it, it was refreshing. The cast of six (later seven, then again six) was close-knit, and the DM still had a Vision untainted by politics of a "democratic" gaming community. But best of all--there was a ravingly psyhotic thief. Shay. Verbose and vivacious, not bound by morals or greed and so very human -- but also, the best damn character I've ever made. I still pine to be her again. So now, nearly five months after the game was unposted to death, if a game's cease can be described as such, I emailed the DM (who was the first to go on hiatus--suprisingly not me this time) and asked him to hand the game over to me. I'm willing to take it up but it's unlikely I'll get a response. Still, I'm quietly hoping. It's not me to take a character out of his or her "original environment" but I'm also not prepared to bury Shay in my graveyard of characters. She was just -that- good. I saved the LoT digest however... maybe some miracle will happen and it will be used for more than just remembrance. Not that anyone's interested I suppose, but you can see the entire digest for yourself here. It hasn't been tidied or clipped--so I warn you, it's deathly long. But again, it was a year's worth of creation--now only to waste away as some object of my nostalgia. Now that that's out of my system, I think I've had it with roleplaying really.
