summerbreeze

After my final exam today, chills clambered up and down the knobs of my spine at the thought of being a non-high school student (at last)--though I believe the blast from the air conditioner also had a part to play. I walked to my car and then sped off to Good Charlotte with the top down. Punk seemed most fitting--getting out for the summer, I only wish I'd known how to be young sooner. I had to take John home but Jeni and I had promised we'd hang out so I told him he was welcome to join us for lunch. I picked out Blvd. of Broken Dreams, "for old times sake"--no, actually--it wasn't for a reason that sentimental but Emilia came in and then Jeni, and the booth was just out of habit. They were talking about going Thrift Store Shopping (!!) and I really wanted to tag along but I'd already made plans to go to the Art Museum with Kevin. So later this afternoon, I had another near-death experience. Cars were merging in and he got panicky and swerved to the other lane just as a truck sped by. My first impulse was to scream at him, but all I could get out of me was a laugh, and that was even muffled with shaky hands that covered my face. We ran into Kelsy at Barnes and Nobles. We ran into Caitlin at Borders. Hey, whaddyaknow, Sanfordians are taking over the book corporations. It was on the way back home that I remembered the pig-pickin' at Jenna's. I had promised I'd try to go. I like being around people. I'm not picky as long as I don't have to think too much--about why I want to surround myself with as many people as possible. It wasn't that I ever tried to be a social person, but it just comes easier now.

Summertime. I won't allow myself to be idle. I won't allow myself to sleep. More anime, more books-- I began reading Memoirs of a Geisha. Just because. I wanted to. Lately, I've only read books that were "intellectually" valuable--but I've come to think that of all books, even the trashy romance novels. ~Especially~ the trashy romance novels. Yes, and more porn.
