for the money

Last night Jeni and I were walking down the side of a street when she stopped to pick up a twenty dollar bill and further along saw three more one dollar bills. She handed them to me and told me to keep walking. Nah, I told her, we should at least ask around to see if the money belonged to anyone. We'd just passed people who were waiting in line to go into a club and I approached a group of three who were standing the closest. I asked them if they'd just recently dropped some money. There was one guy in the group, and he began feeling on his chest pocket and peering in and out, then finally peered up blinkingly at the sky, "You know what? I think I lost a twenty." I looked at Jeni. We found twenty-three, not twenty. The lady who'd had her back to me turned around now. She was in a flimsy leopard print shirt, beer cup in hand, mascara running down--looked really charming. She also began glancing down her shirt and fanning it and reaching down her bra, looking for Jeni to look down as well, cuz you know Jeni really wanted to see that. Suddenly the woman transformed herself into Good King Winceslas and urged us to keep the money. The other guy was pushing us to give it back to her and the third person began to pull at the woman, "Come on mom, let's just go." Mom pulled away from her daughter to -graciously- tell us that we could keep her money while at the same time the guy--her son or lover or whatever, was still shaking his head telling us that she's drunk, doesn't know what she's saying until finally I was like, fuck this shit and handed the woman 'her' money. Told them to have a -goodnight-. Smiled really pretty for them. You know, if they wanna team up and use reverse psychology for twenty-three fucking dollars they can go ahead. And I hope they used it to buy themselves drinks because they'll be missing that when they're burning in hell. Indeed. Have a good night assholes.
